How to check in online with airBaltic

Have your booking reference and ID ready
You'll need a 6-character booking reference (PNR) and a valid travel document (passport or EU/EEA national ID).

Open the official check-in page
Use the button at the top of this page or visit airbaltic.com directly. Avoid third-party "check-in" sites.

Enter passenger details
Add passport / ID number, expiry date, and country of issue if travelling internationally. This step is mandatory and blocks check-in if skipped.

Choose seats and add extras
Random seats are free in the 24-hour window; named seats and priority boarding cost extra. Skip if you don't need them.

Save the boarding pass
Add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The airBaltic app stores it offline once downloaded.

Common airBaltic check-in problems
Green fare excludes checked bag
Problem: airBaltic Green fare excludes checked bag. Adding 23 kg costs €22–35 online.
Solution: Pre-pay during booking. Personal item + cabin bag (8 kg total in 'small' size) included free.
All-A220 fleet — limited overhead
Problem: airBaltic flies only Airbus A220-300 — modern but smaller overhead bins than 737/A320. Carry-on at gate-check more common.
Solution: Pack soft cabin bag. Gate-check is free if bin is full and you preboard. A220 has comfortable 5-abreast seating (1 less seat than A320).

When does airBaltic check-in open?
30 hours before scheduled departure. Closes 60 minutes before for international, 45 minutes for Baltic regional.
Why does airBaltic fly only Airbus A220?
airBaltic was the launch customer for the A220 (formerly Bombardier CSeries) in 2016. The single-fleet strategy reduces costs (training, maintenance). 50+ A220s by 2026.
Where does airBaltic fly?
Major hubs: Riga (RIX, primary), Tallinn (TLL), Vilnius (VNO), Tampere (TMP). Network covers Baltic-Scandinavia, central Europe, Mediterranean, Middle East.
