Editorial policy

OnlineCheckIn is a directory of airline and airport check-in information. A wrong opening time or terminal label can cost a flight, so we hold this page to a high standard. Here is how we work.

What we publish

For each airline we cover, we publish: the official online check-in URL, the check-in window (when it opens / when it closes), what data is required (passport / ID / APIS), supported boarding-pass formats (mobile, Wallet, PDF, paper), and any documented airport-counter or self-service-bag-drop fees.

For each airport, we publish: terminals, recommended arrival times by journey type (Schengen / international / US-bound), live operational signals (security wait, weather impact, disruption status), top airlines we have terminal-specific data for, and popular destinations.

Where the data comes from

  • Airline check-in URLs and rules — taken directly from each airline's "manage booking" or "check-in" page. We do not republish from third-party aggregators.
  • Airport terminal data — published terminal layouts and arrivals/departures information from the airport's own website.
  • Regulations — EU 261/2004 (passenger rights), IATA carry-on/checked baggage standards, ICAO emissions factors, national APIS / ETA requirements from official government sites.
  • Live signals (security wait) — anonymous user submissions, aggregated server-side. Each report is one timestamp + airport + minutes; no IP, no cookie, no email.

How we verify

  1. Initial publication

Every page is checked against the airline's or airport's official website at the time of writing. We record the verification date in the page footer.

  2. Re-verification cadence

We aim to re-check each airline page every 90 days, and each airport page twice yearly. Pages with stale dates are flagged for review before any further updates ship.

  3. Reader-flagged corrections

Anyone can submit a correction via our contact form. We review all corrections within one working day and update the page within five if the report is verifiable.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell flights, baggage, seat upgrades, or anything the airlines themselves sell. The check-in CTAs link directly to the official airline page.
  • We don't generate content from airline press releases or marketing material without independent verification.
  • We don't accept payment to favour one airline over another in our directory ordering. The default ordering is alphabetical or by traffic, never sponsored.

Affiliate relationships

OnlineCheckIn earns referral commission on a small set of trip-adjacent services: airport parking, lounge access, eSIM, travel insurance, and ground transfers. These appear in clearly labelled sections. Commission rates do not affect editorial decisions or the airline / airport rankings. Full details are on our affiliate disclosure page.

Mistakes

When we get something wrong, we say so. Significant corrections (e.g., wrong terminal, wrong fee) are noted in a small line at the bottom of the page along with the correction date. Minor edits (typos, link fixes, formatting) are made silently.

We are an editorial site, not a real-time flight tracker. Airline policies can change between our verification cycle and your travel date — always re-check the airline's own site within 24 hours of departure.

The fastest way is the contact form with the page URL and a one-line description. We read every submission.
