How to check in online with Aer Lingus

Have your booking reference and ID ready
You'll need a 6-character booking reference (PNR) and a valid travel document (passport or EU/EEA national ID).

Use the button at the top of this page or visit aerlingus.com directly. Avoid third-party "check-in" sites.

Enter passenger details
Add passport / ID number, expiry date, and country of issue if travelling internationally. This step is mandatory and blocks check-in if skipped.

Choose seats and add extras
Random seats are free in the 24-hour window; named seats and priority boarding cost extra. Skip if you don't need them.

Save the boarding pass
Add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The Aer Lingus app stores it offline once downloaded.

Common Aer Lingus check-in problems
Saver fare on intra-Europe excludes checked bag
Problem: Aer Lingus's cheapest Saver fare doesn't include any checked bag.
Solution: Pre-pay during booking (cheaper than at airport) or upgrade to Plus / Advantage which includes 23 kg checked.
DUB US pre-clearance
Problem: Dublin has US Customs pre-clearance — you clear US Customs at DUB before flying to the US.
Solution: Allow 3+ hours at DUB for US flights. Once cleared, you arrive in the US as a domestic passenger (faster on arrival).

30 hours before scheduled departure for most flights. Closes 60 minutes before international, 45 minutes before intra-Europe.
Does Dublin have US pre-clearance?
Yes — DUB and Shannon are the only European airports with US Customs and Border Protection pre-clearance. You clear US immigration at DUB and arrive in the US as a domestic passenger.
