How to check in online with TAP Air Portugal

Have your booking reference and ID ready
You'll need a 6-character booking reference (PNR) and a valid travel document (passport or EU/EEA national ID).

Use the button at the top of this page or visit flytap.com directly. Avoid third-party "check-in" sites.

Enter passenger details
Add passport / ID number, expiry date, and country of issue if travelling internationally. This step is mandatory and blocks check-in if skipped.

Choose seats and add extras
Random seats are free in the 24-hour window; named seats and priority boarding cost extra. Skip if you don't need them.

Save the boarding pass
Add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The TAP Air Portugal app stores it offline once downloaded.

Common TAP Air Portugal check-in problems
Discount fare excludes checked bag and seat selection
Problem: TAP's Discount fare on intra-Europe routes excludes checked baggage AND advance seat selection.
Solution: Pre-pay during booking (cheaper than at airport) or upgrade to Basic / Classic fare which includes both.
Stopover programme paperwork has to be done before check-in
Problem: TAP's Lisbon Stopover (free hotel for 1–5 nights on connections) needs registration on flytap.com before online check-in.
Solution: Apply at flytap.com/stopover at least 7 days before departure. Bring confirmation to the LIS Stopover desk.

What is TAP Stopover?
Free 1-5 night stopover in Lisbon or Porto when you connect on TAP between Europe and the Americas/Africa. No extra airfare; you only pay the hotel (often discounted via TAP partners).
