How to check in online with Loganair

  1. Have your booking reference and ID ready

You'll need a 6-character booking reference (PNR) and a valid travel document (passport or EU/EEA national ID).

  2. Open the official check-in page

Use the button at the top of this page or visit loganair.co.uk directly. Avoid third-party "check-in" sites.

  3. Enter passenger details

Add passport / ID number, expiry date, and country of issue if travelling internationally. This step is mandatory and blocks check-in if skipped.

  4. Choose seats and add extras

Random seats are free in the 24-hour window; named seats and priority boarding cost extra. Skip if you don't need them.

  5. Save the boarding pass

Add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The Loganair app stores it offline once downloaded.

Common Loganair check-in problems

Small aircraft = strict carry-on size

Problem: Many Loganair routes use small turboprops (Saab 340, ATR 42) with very limited overhead bin space. Standard 8 kg carry-on may need to be gate-checked.

Solution: Pack soft bag for carry-on. Loganair often offers free gate-check for full flights — bag returned at destination jet bridge.

Weather-related cancellations to islands

Problem: Routes to Shetland (Sumburgh), Orkney (Kirkwall), Stornoway, Benbecula, Barra are weather-sensitive. Cancellations during winter storms.

Solution: Always book flexibility. Travel insurance for island flights essential. Loganair will rebook on next available — typically next-day.

Loganair check-in FAQ

When does Loganair check-in open?

24 hours before scheduled departure. Closes 30 minutes before for most routes (15 min for very short island hops).

Where does Loganair fly?

Loganair connects Scotland's mainland (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness) to remote islands (Shetland, Orkney, Stornoway, Benbecula, Barra) plus England (Manchester, Norwich, Newcastle), Ireland and Norway.

Is the Loganair Barra beach landing real?

Yes — Barra (BRR) is the world's only scheduled beach landing airport. Tide-dependent flight times. Spectacular short turboprop service from Glasgow.
