How to check in online with AirAsia

Have your booking reference and ID ready
You'll need a 6-character booking reference (PNR) and a valid travel document (passport or EU/EEA national ID).

Open the official check-in page
Use the button at the top of this page or visit airasia.com directly. Avoid third-party "check-in" sites.

Enter passenger details
Add passport / ID number, expiry date, and country of issue if travelling internationally. This step is mandatory and blocks check-in if skipped.

Choose seats and add extras
Random seats are free in the 24-hour window; named seats and priority boarding cost extra. Skip if you don't need them.

Save the boarding pass
Add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The AirAsia app stores it offline once downloaded.

Common AirAsia check-in problems
Counter check-in costs MYR 25 (~€5)
Problem: AirAsia charges MYR 25 if you check in at the airport instead of online.
Solution: Always check in online via airasia.com or the Superapp 14 days–1 hour before departure. Save the boarding pass to phone wallet.
Low-cost long-haul (AirAsia X) has different rules
Problem: AirAsia X (D7 code) is the long-haul subsidiary with stricter baggage and meal rules.
Solution: Verify your fare class. Pre-pay meals, baggage, and seat for AirAsia X — counter prices are 2–3× higher.

When does AirAsia check-in open?
14 days before scheduled departure for most flights — among the earliest of any low-cost airline. Closes 60 minutes before international, 45 minutes for ASEAN domestic.
Does AirAsia include checked bag in the cheapest fare?
No — Promo fare includes only personal item under the seat. Pre-pay 20 kg checked at booking (~€14) or upgrade to Value or Premium fare.
