Known issues at DUB with Aer Lingus
US pre-clearance adds 60–90 minutes
Problem: DUB has full US Customs pre-clearance — you clear US immigration at DUB before flying. Adds significant pre-departure time.
Solution: Allow 3+ hours at DUB for US flights. Bag-drop closes 90 min before departure. Once cleared, you arrive in the US as a domestic passenger (much faster on arrival).
Saver fare excludes checked bag
Problem: Aer Lingus's Saver fare (cheapest intra-Europe) doesn't include any checked baggage.
Solution: Pre-pay during booking (€25+) or upgrade to Plus / Advantage fare which includes 23 kg checked + free seat selection.
