How to check in online with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS)

Have your booking reference and ID ready
You'll need a 6-character booking reference (PNR) and a valid travel document (passport or EU/EEA national ID).

Enter passenger details
Add passport / ID number, expiry date, and country of issue if travelling internationally. This step is mandatory and blocks check-in if skipped.

Choose seats and add extras
Random seats are free in the 24-hour window; named seats and priority boarding cost extra. Skip if you don't need them.

Save the boarding pass
Add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) app stores it offline once downloaded.

Common Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) check-in problems
Go Light fare excludes checked bag
Problem: SAS's Go Light fare on intra-Europe routes doesn't include any checked baggage.
Solution: Pre-pay during booking (€25–€45) or upgrade to Go Smart fare which includes 23 kg checked + free seat selection.
Star Alliance status may not transfer cleanly
Problem: After 2024 SkyTeam transition, Star Alliance Gold benefits from old SAS bookings sometimes don't apply.
Solution: If your booking pre-dates the alliance switch, contact SAS to confirm benefits. New bookings are SkyTeam from start.

When does SAS check-in open?
22 hours before scheduled departure. Closes 45 minutes before for international, 30 minutes before for intra-Scandinavia.
Did SAS leave Star Alliance?
Yes. SAS moved from Star Alliance to SkyTeam on 1 September 2024. Existing Star Alliance Gold benefits stopped at that date; new SkyTeam Elite Plus benefits replaced them.
